Design of a Metaphorically Structured Space for Complex Visualization

Hot stuff from Ted Goranson. This sets up the GeoKabbalitter content. The technology pages are:

  • Abstract, given below
  • Scenarios, where you are walked through a couple science-fiction like examples of how the space works. This is text-only for now.
  • Technologies, where each of the key technologies to support the scenarios are ever-so-briefly described.
  • Glossary/More Info gives a thumbnail reference and links for further discovery
  • Philosophy explains where we are coming from in terms of a meta-perspective.

Also, since there is scant available information on the subject, we quote some work on hyperstereograms.

Abstract

This is a brief of an overall architecture for visualization of subtle relationships within large unindexed information pools. It has a high level description of features of the architecture and approach. It also explores some of the enabling technologies and their underlying science. Novelties are: A virtual reality not based on physical metaphors rather on more "real" literary devices and structures; a novel user interface based on three-dimensional alphabets and composition; support for extreme complexity; ability to locally federate; and sensitivity to future hardware. I think you'll be challenged and have some fun exploring this.
